About this course reader
This site is the written version of the whole of Emne 1 - Cybersecurity, networks, Linux and scripting at Gokstad Akademiet: one chapter for each of the twenty-six lectures, in full sentences, with the book references beside every claim. It says the same things as the slides and the afternoon sessions, in a form you can read before and after each lecture.
How to read it. Each chapter opens with a metadata box naming its module, lecture and reading time. The coloured boxes follow one convention throughout:
Blue note boxes are definitions taken from the book, quoted with their source.
Orange warning boxes are questions to stop and answer for yourself.
Green case boxes follow one small firm, Nordvik AS, through the whole semester.
Red key-idea boxes are the ideas to keep.
Each chapter ends with common misconceptions, a five-point summary, a self-check, and the sources used.
Light and dark. Every page has a light/dark toggle in the top right corner - pick whichever is easier on your eyes; the choice is remembered across pages.
Books. Jøsang, Cybersecurity: Technology and Governance (Springer, 2025) for Modules 1–3; Horstmann & Necaise, Python for Everyone (3rd ed.) for the Python chapters. Linux, Bash and web facts are attributed where they are used.
